Last weekend I took my two sons, Gavyn (10) and Trey (8), backpacking at Shades State Park. The park has a 2 1/2 mile backpacking trail with backcountry camping. We had a blast. We cooked food on our homemade stove. We went fishing, wading in the river and crawdad hunting. We stayed up till midnight around the bonfire and we had a severe thunderstorm (60 mph winds) blow through. It got a little intense but the boys were real troopers. It was a great weekend.
